First Super Late Model races go well

May 18th, 2009 by admin

first-super-late-model-races-go-well-11955Hey everyone its great to be back,

Our Super Late Model career has started off great! But all we need is a little luck. All are test runs in the car went good, we were fast and had good set ups for the long races. Going into our first race we were good in practice. There were 46 cars that were at the Easter Bunny 150. All those cars that were there we fast good cars. Also in the field was NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Aric Almirola. In time trials the top 20 went to the main and we got 8th !! This was great making me one of the youngest drivers to ever start in the race. Also we were one spot in front of Almirola. In the main we ran in the top 7 for the first 20 laps (out of 31 cars that made the main.). But got wrecked and went back to 31st in 150 lap race by lap 75 we were in 13th. With 9 laps to go we were passing for 9th and got spun. And went a lap down finishing 21st. But we still did great. We finished 11th in our second Super Late Model started (out of 31 cars) with handling problems with are new tires. Still ok. Our third Super Late Model start went amazing fastest in the first two practices. Started 4th and run in the top 3 for 41 laps before spinning in water from the car in front of me. Ending our night went one of the best cars. We are still doing a outstanding job for only 3 starts, we have the speed that’s the most important thing!

Thanks guys!

My Story

April 10th, 2009 by admin

my-story--19597Well for starters my name is Devin Jones am 14 years old, I live in Mooresville, NC. I grew up in Southern California racing Karts in IKF, WKA and clubs all around there. I am currently racing Super Late Models all around the US.

my-story--13326Here is my racing story through the years. I started racing Go karts in the 2004 season and was very good winning my first championship which was the WKA Gold Cup. I also did well is some of my first IKF events. It was a great year to start off. In 2005 our team did amazing winning seven championships and also being named “The Most Winning Driver in Southern California.” Also in ‘05 we won are first National Championship winning it in WKA West in Jr.1 Yamaha and also winning the pole in that class.

2006 was our year to shine and we did winning Two IKF National Championships in Jr.1 and HPV.1. We also sat on the pole in both classes putting has an IKF Expert. We won many times in 2006 including two Stars wins and two poles in Stars. Due to some bad luck we came up one spot short for the Stars West title. To end the year we got 2nd place in our first Jr. 2 race the Michael Clack Pro Race.

2007 was a year of change as we won an IKF Jr.2 race at Buffalo Bills and was leading the points in that class in IKF but we were going to move to Race City, North Carolina to race oval ending our outstanding karting career.

my-story--9531It was a new chapter The Bandolero Car which won one race in and had 20 top tens in 24 starts. In 2008 we raced the Legends Car and won 10 races and had 54 top tens in 60 starts. We won three in a row at Anderson Motor speedway. Won at Rockingham Speedway for my first Legends Car win. Also Was Runner Up in the Summer Shootout at Lowes Motor Speedway. And was the pole sitter at the Young Lions Nationals. This moves up into the PRO which we had a runner finish in race three of the Winter Heat and was third in points when we stepped away to test our Super Late Model.

That bring as to 2009 when we will be racing in our Super Late Model on my quest to get in to NASCAR.

Thanks, it’s great to be here!
