A Quick Hello!

blog_773Hello and welcome to my new blog!

I hope to keep this regularly updated with news and reports from my racing exploits, and although it is currently the off-season in England, I am hoping to give an insight into what goes on behind the scenes as well as on the track. With this in mind this blog will detail the winter rebuild of my race car, as well as the work I will be putting in to ensure I am physically ready for the new racing season.

Despite only competing in relatively short races that are not particularly physically demanding in 2009, I see no reason why I cannot attempt to give myself an advantage by undertaking a programme of physical training over the winter months. Also if the opportunity to compete or test in a quicker and more demanding car comes along, I want to ensure I am ready for the challenge!

Although I have been competing regularly since 2002, it is only now that I find myself in a position to dedicate a season fully to motorsport. As a youngster I was not in a position to serve the normal apprenticeship in karting, so all my learning had to come when I started in cars at the age of 17. Each season has gradually improved, although I have not been able to commit to a full racing calendar up until now.

2009 brings with it lots of potential and promise. The 750 Motor Club Locost Championship is one of the closest and most competitive of national competitions in the UK, meaning anyone who can regularly challenge at the front is likely to be capable of doing the same in a much more prestigious series. I know from 2008 that I have a car capable of running at the front and winning races, it is now down to my own development, which I intend to share every step of via this blog!

Updates will hopefully be regular as the countdown to the start of the season gets shorter, and my own personal website will be up and running very soon if you want more information!

Until then…
Matt
