Hi everyone!
Right before the beginning of the season I wrote my first blog. Unfortunately my season is over already.
I was in 3rd position in the Porsche 944 cup at the day my season ended.
The first race of the day I started in 2nd place, but I missed the start completely and reached the first corner almost in last position. My teammate Oscar Schon was so kind to stay behind me. After a very good race I managed to finish in 3rd place.
For the start of the 2nd race I was completely concentrated to make a good start. Our class started at the end the more than 50 cars counting grid. In front of the grid the Saker sportscars followed by Porsche 911?s, BMW?s M3 and other supersport cars. The Porsche 944 is the slowest cup in the supersport, so our cars started at the back.
I had a good start and drove in 3rd position, right behond Jafeth Molenaar and John Hurenkamp when, completely out of the blue, a Saker car stood in front of me. I just geared of from 3 to 4, driving 150 km per hour. The Saker (Oscar Wilkens) had engine failure.
You can guess what happenend…
I tried to avoid the crash by stearing to the left, but unfortunately I didn?t manage.
Both cars are ready for the scrapheap. I ended up in the hospital with a brain concussion, a whiplash and vertebra problems.
We?re about 7 weeks further now. I?m still far from ok; recovering goes sooo slow!
Yesterday I?ve had a CT scan. Coming friday I?ll hear the results.
Due to the accident I also missed the Zolder and Oschersleben 24 our races this year.
Let?s pray 2010 will be a better year for me!
